Gilded Competitors
A TVSpy post on Mediabistro.com proclaims that the London Summer Olympics was the most-watched in television history.
The Chris Arlens August 13, 2012 post revealed that slightly more than 219 million viewers tuned in over the 17 days of games and events, including an average 31.1 million prime time viewers each night.
What stood out for me about the London 2012 Olympics was the stunning performances by women athletes from the United States. One television report said women were the winner of 60 percent of the 43 Gold Medals Team USA brought home this year.
I mention it here only because it is probably safe to assume that Title IX has, over time, contributed greatly to the successful and strong showings by women today. Who knows what the story will be in another 40 years? Go, Olympic Gold Medalists ! Each one of you, both women and men, inspire nations every four years and we love you for it.
