Improve Your Media Presentation Skills
Most people can make an adequate media presentation because all one really has to do is “be yourself.” If, however, there is interest in putting the best self forward, now, we are talking about a little work, to be properly prepared. Suggestion: start early, and get improved presentation skills going with answers to a few questions.
Why am I doing this? Where is the value in spending my time and energy on media readiness? What is the cost, and do I want to pay it right now? What is the benefit? What will I get for my efforts? Answer clearly and honestly because, if you wish, no one else is privileged to see or hear the answers.
Here are a few other questions and considerations that will help you to better understand your media needs and interests:
What is the primary media issue you currently face or expect to deal with soon?
How much media interaction or exposure have you had?
___Constant ___Considerable ___Periodic ___Very little ___None
What form of media exposure have you had; how often?
Medium: Print___ Radio___ TV___ Cable___ Internet___
Other: ________________________________
What is your personal challenge in dealing with the media?
Would a better understanding of media, and how to handle yourself and the issues that affect you result in greater personal or professional success? ____ Yes
____ No _____ Why?
Okay, your work is cut out for you. Let me know how you feel about your answers and if you want to continue on the journey toward improved media readiness.
